Our lives have never been so exciting and hectic at the same time! For that reason we've created this blog to help us keep in touch with friends and family.
Ella's umbilical cord finally fell off yesterday, so we were very excited to give her her first bath. Little did we know we'd be giving her her second bath that same night. The first video is a little long, so if you get bored, you can skip ahead to the funny stuff around six and a half minutes. No, that's not a floor board creaking! We think she liked her first bath so much that she wanted a second one immediately!
Thank you Auntie Molly for the wonderful playmat! Ella loves it! She especially loves looking at herself in the mirror. As usual, Griffin has to keep watch over his new little buddy.
Ella is one week old today! It's hard to believe that it was just one week since all of the excitement we experienced at the hospital, and meeting her for the first time. At the same time, I feel like I've known her forever. This has been a wonderful week bonding together as a family.
Here is a picture of Ella today with her bear that Papa got for her.
And also a picture of Ella unhappy, and Daddy mocking her.
Here is a video of Ella trying to find her next meal.
We're all so happy to be at home. Our first night home was a little rough with Ella's sleep schedule. I didn't get to sleep until about 4 AM, when Jamus took over. Since then though, she's been great at night (knock on wood), only waking up once or twice for feedings. We're hoping that this trend continues. She seems to be a very good baby.
Ella had her 1 week Pediatrician appointment on Friday (5 days old), and all went well. When Ella was born, she was 7 lbs., 3 oz. By Wednesday when she left the hospital she was down to 6 lbs., 11 oz. At her Friday appointment, she was back to her full birth weight of 7 lbs., 3 oz., so we know that she's eating very well. I guess that's why she was up so much on Wednesday night, trying to pack on a full half pound in just two days!
Griffin has been adapting quite well to having Ella at home. There are some videos below of him reacting to her, and meeting her for the first time. We of course are being cautious with them together, but have been pleased at how gentle he is, and she doesn't seem to mind his kisses too much.
Griffin was a perfect gentleman when meeting Ella for the first time, and loves kissing Ella's hands.
Griffin didn't take his eyes off of Ella when she tried her swing out for the first time. He is very curious about all of her movements and noises.
Today we went for a hike up Baldpate Mountain in NJ. Julie was a trooper, 4 miles at 9 months pregnant! The weather was gorgeous, 75 degrees and clear. Great views of the Delaware River and PA beyond.
