Ella is 11 months old today! She has changed quite a bit in the last month. She is so much more confident on her feet. Ella stands for a long time on her own, playing with toys or even drinking from a bottle. She has even, when prodded to, taken a shaky step forward, but not quite those real "first steps". A couple of weeks ago, she said her first word: cheese! A girl after my own heart! 
We were going into the kitchen to fix her lunch, and I asked her if she wanted some cheese (her favorite!), and she said "cheese", and I said "you want CHEESE?!", and again, clear as a bell she says "cheese". We haven't been able to get her to say it again, but she's expanded her repertoire to "uh-oh" and "owl". She says "uh-oh" whenever she drops a toy. It seems like she's dropping things more often now, just so she can say this favorite phrase. 
Ella has some pictures of owls and birds over her changing table, and loves the owls. She especially loves saying owl now while she's getting dressed. She'll say it over and over again, practicing, practicing. Ella still has a special love for monkeys, and whenever we say monkey, she is immediately happy. She loves to hear us imitate monkeys and tries to do it herself. Only one more month until she is a year old!
